IT Career Jump Start Program (Online)
The IT Career Jump Start Program is an online, instructor-led program designed to prepare participants for new career opportunities in Information Technology. No prior IT experience is required. This 200-hour, 12 week program covers three areas: basic internet security, foundational IT concepts and terminology, and in-depth training in the skills necessary for a help desk or tech support position. Each of the three areas lead to internationally recognized IT certifications. Students who earn certifications may apply to convert certifications for up to 11 college credits in Trocaire’s Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity program.
Trocaire instructors provide coaching and guidance to prepare you for the certification exams with the goal of having you earn the CertNexus CyberSafe, CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ and CompTIA A+ certification exams. Earning the A+ certification validates the equivalent of 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in the lab or field in a help desk, service technician or IT support front-line capacity.
Students may also receive as part of this program the Work-Readiness Skills training offered in partnership with 716 Ministries and the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County that begins on February 18th for four weeks. This program is also online, and instructor-led over 24 online class hours.
Qualified Applicants may receive funding from the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium to cover the program cost of $6,658.
