Trocaire Opportunity Program | HEOP
The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), is committed to offering comprehensive support services that empower students to achieve success in completing an associate or bachelor’s degree. The opportunity program is sponsored jointly by the State Education Department and Trocaire College. Through the Trocaire Opportunity Program, students get the support they need to stay on track and earn your associate or bachelor’s degree.
Eligible students receive a full-needs financial aid package which includes TAP and PELL. Additional grants and stipends may be available to eligible students.
General Requirements:
- High school diploma or state-approved equivalency diploma
- Resident of New York State for at least one year prior to enrollment
- First-time college student or transferring to Trocaire from a previous EOP or HEOP program.
Age is not a factor - Meet BOTH academic and economic guidelines as defined in the following sections
Academic Eligibility
- Applicants should demonstrate academic potential and motivation for success at the collegiate level
- To meet academic eligibility, students can not be admissible directly into the academic program for which they are applying. Consideration for acceptance into the opportunity program will be based on a complete academic profile.
- If a student was previously enrolled in EOP or HEOP, that eligibility will be considered for acceptance into the opportunity program. Students should contact the TOP office for more information
Financial Eligibility
- To be considered, the applicant must meet the economic criteria established by the New York State Education Department
- All income must be verified by appropriate documentation
Opportunity Program Application Process:
- Step 1: Complete the Trocaire College Application for Admission
- Step 2: Complete the Trocaire Opportunity Program (HEOP) Application form and required essay
- Step 3: Complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at FAFSA website
