Trocaire Dedicates New Technology Institute

Trocaire officially dedicated its new Trocaire College Technology Institute (TCTI), located on the second floor of the Transit Extension Center in Lancaster, on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul gave the event’s keynote address to a crowd of more than 50 people. NYS Senator Patrick Gallivan and Assemblymember Monica Wallace also spoke, as did Trocaire President Bassam Deeb, Ph.D. and Board of Trustees Chair Tom Waring.

“Employers are coming here to Western New York with specific needs, and we can address those needs with [technology] programs like these,” Hochul said. “This is what I love about Trocaire–you are finding out what is needed in this community, and you are responding to that need. That’s what this institution is all about.”

The dedication ceremony provided employees, government officials, community members, and leaders in industries like education, banking and healthcare the opportunity to explore the $1.68 million renovation project, which used funding from the NYS Higher Education Capital (HECap) Matching Grant Program to create state-of-the-art technology classrooms and lab facilities. The TCTI houses Trocaire’s new, innovative programs in Cybersecurity and Data Analytics, as well as the college’s other tech-focused programs, such as Healthcare Informatics, and related workforce development initiatives.

The TCTI’s first class of students started in August, and all programs are currently accepting applications for the Spring 2020 semester. Take the leap and come visit Trocaire today!
