May 2023 Commencement Student Speaker Application Deadline

Calling all Spring and Summer 2023 graduates – we want YOU to apply to be the May 2023 Commencement Student Speaker. The Commencement Student Speaker is an honor to have, as the student shares their speech at the May 2023 Commencement Ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Eligible students for Commencement Student Speaker must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 expected graduate
• Must plan on attending the May 2023 Commencement on Tuesday, May 16, 2023
• Must be in good academic and conduct standing with their program and the college
• Must be in good financial standing (i.e. enrolled in a payment plan, on track in payments, and/or paid tuition in full)
• IF Nursing graduate: Must achieve benchmark on their HESI V1 and V2.

Students who wish to be speaker shall submit a written draft of their speech to the Commencement Student Speaker Application no later than Saturday, February 25, 2023. The speech should highlight their experience, impact of Trocaire College on their professional/personal advancement, and be relatable to the graduating class. Speeches are to be 3-5 minutes long. Additionally, the student is required to have a current faculty or staff recommendation to supplement their application. The current faculty or staff recommender will be automatically contacted once the application is submitted, but we do encourage students to reach out in advance.

The Commencement Speech Committee will review speeches in mid-March and provide results after midterm grades are released.
