Trocaire College offering free IT career exploration course

In collaboration with United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and Tech Buffalo, course designed for individuals who are in a career transition.

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – April 20, 2020 – To help those interested to transition to new careers in information technology, Trocaire College announced the launch of a free IT career exploration course in partnership with the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and Tech Buffalo.

“Most people think they need to be a math or technology wizard to work in IT, but this isn’t the case,” said Dan Neville, director of the Trocaire College Technology Institute. “Basic entry level skills needed include a willingness to learn and a customer service orientation. Adults who are looking to change careers and find out if a career in IT is right for them are encouraged to apply for the free course.”

The instructor-led, online course starts May 18 or July 13 and runs Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 12 noon each day for four weeks. The course uses CompTIA’s IT Fundamentals curriculum and includes an opportunity to earn an industry-recognized certification upon completion. All course materials and certification fees are included.

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, more than 545,000 new IT jobs will be added over the next seven years with a median annual salary of $86,320.

Class size is limited. For more information on program requirements and to enroll, visit staging.trocaire.edu/it-courses-at-trocaire-college/.
