Monday, Sept. 18, marks the beginning of Mercy Week 2017. Trocaire’s Office of Mission, Ministry and Service has fun and educational events planned all week long to honor our Mercy heritage and address some of the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, such as respect for the earth, non-violence, peace, and mercy. Join us for any or all of the week’s activities (all at the main campus on Choate). Also be on the lookout for some special Mercy-related content on our Trailblazer blog and social media.

Share your participation online with the hashtag #MakeMercyReal!

Monday, Sept. 18 – SACRED SPACE OPEN HOUSE:
The week will begin with an open house from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the newly-renovated “Sacred Space” (formerly the Meditation Room), located on the 3rd floor of the Main building. Stop by for cookies, tea, and community building. Msgr. David Lee will celebrate the Eucharist (Mass) at 11:45 a.m. – all are invited. A film short on the Sisters of Mercy will play throughout the day; you are welcome to visit any time!

Tuesday, Sept. 19 – TOWARD THE COMMON GOOD LUNCHEON
Critical Concern: Non-Violence
All are welcome for an uncommonly good pizza lunch and conversation, the first session in a series on Violence as a Public Health Issue. Explore the origins of violence in human life (are we hard-wired for aggression or for empathy?), patterns of violence in our communities and their effects, plus Catholic and Mercy perspectives on ending violence in our lives and in society. Food and beverages will be provided 12-1 p.m. in the Sacred Space.

Wednesday, Sept. 20 – CAZENOVIA PARK WALK
Critical Concern: Earth
Connect with nature and earth and have some fun by joining us for a Caz Park Walk: Reflections on the Mercy Critical Concern, from 12-1 p.m. Meet at the security desk at 11:55 a.m.

Thursday, Sept. 21 – BUDDHIST PRAYER FLAGS CELEBRATING THE U.N. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Critical Concern: Peace
The Critical Concern of Peace, rooted in prayer and action, will be on display in the foyer (outside The Commons). You will have an opportunity to create a “prayer flag” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Prayer flags will be added to a line and hung outside where your prayer/intention for peace and love will be sent out to the world.

Friday, Sept. 22 – MERCY IN ACTION BOARD
Critical Concern: Mercy
“How have I shown Mercy?” “How has Mercy been shown to me?” You will have an opportunity to answer these questions in the foyer (outside The Commons) by sharing your answer(s) on the MERCY BOARD.
