Because Trocaire is a relatively small school, you form a relationship with your instructors. They are able to provide instruction and challenges that are tailored to your needs, wants, and abilities.

How did you end up in Trocaire’s HCI program? I am a chemical engineer that spent the last 25 years in the semiconductor industry. I wanted to move back to Western New York and knew there wasn’t much for me here as an engineer. My sister-in-law is good friends with Deb Shelvay. We met and she suggested HCI.

Would you recommend Trocaire to someone else?  Yes, I would recommend Trocaire. Small school with very close, personal attention.

How would you explain your profession/major to someone who isn’t familiar with it? Statistics with a focus on the healthcare field.

Why do you enjoy HCI at Trocaire? Because it’s a relatively small school, you form a relationship with your instructors. They are able to provide instruction and challenges that are tailored to your needs, wants, and abilities.

What is one thing you don’t think people realize about HCI? No lie…they don’t even know it exists. I didn’t!

What are three personality traits of someone who would enjoy/thrive in HCI? Detail oriented, technical abilities, and you MUST be willing to put the time and effort into learning new things.

One piece of advice for someone struggling in/considering giving up on their education goals? DON’T! Look at me. I’m 52 and starting a whole new chapter.
