Biography

Dr. Jennifer Higgins has worked in higher education for 14 years. She became the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Trocaire in the spring of 2014; prior to this, she was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the college and taught in the areas of Sociology of the Family, Introduction to Sociology, and Sociology of Health and Medicine. Her areas of expertise are Organizational Sociology, Family Sociology and Sociology of Health.

Jennifer first began as a part-time faculty member at Trocaire College in the Business department in 2009. She has previous experience in business management, and her experience spans several types of organizations including the public sector and other small non- profit organizations. She remains a member of the arts and sciences faculty, teaching Sociology courses when available. Jennifer was born and raised in Western New York, where she lives with her two daughters.

  • Oversee six academic undergraduate programs as well as the Liberal Arts and Natural Science curriculum; develop and manage division and individual program budgets;  oversee accreditation compliance at the regional, state and program levels; Supervise and evaluate four program directors and full and part time faculty; Review, address and resolve academic student concerns and appeals; Develop relationships with local partners for clinical and internship opportunities; Develop and assess learning outcomes and direct assessment practices; Manage and staff divisional academic course schedule on an ongoing semester basis
